Jordan condemns Israel’s new housing plan in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
On March 25th, local time, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs condemned the Israeli authorities’ plan to build more than 1,000 houses in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The department said that the new housing plan is a serious violation of international law, including Security Council resolution 2334.
The Israeli non-governmental organization Peace Now posted a message on its website on the 24th, saying that the Israel Land Administration Bureau recently announced a tender plan for the construction of 1,029 new houses in Jewish settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Among the newly-built settlement houses planned by Israel, 940 are located in Efrat settlement in the West Bank and Ilite settlement in Bertard, and 89 are located in Gilo settlement in East Jerusalem.
The new Israeli government, which was successfully formed at the end of 2022, made the expansion of Jewish settlements a priority task. (Headquarters reporter Zhu Yunxiang)
